Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

What is a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)?

A Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a non-invasive diagnostic test that assesses the levels of minerals and heavy metals in the body, as well as specific mineral ratios. Minerals are essential micronutrients that form the foundation of our health. They work together in a complex system, where an imbalance in one mineral can directly or indirectly influence the levels of others. This interconnected mineral relationship plays a critical role in overall health.

Since hair is composed of dead cells that were once metabolically active, analyzing these cells provides a unique insight into the body’s cellular activities and mineral status that would be difficult to obtain through other means. This makes HTMA a valuable tool for understanding specific health conditions related to mineral imbalances or heavy metal accumulation.

How does HTMA work?

The test kit requires a sample of hair, specifically the first inch and a half of growth closest to the scalp from the nape of the neck, to be sent to the laboratory for analysis. The results from this test provide a detailed assessment of key mineral levels, their ratios, and the presence of any toxic metals found in the hair.

Why use hair for this test? Hair provides a unique medium for monitoring internal biochemical conditions. As hair grows, it is exposed to the body's internal environment. Once the hair emerges from the skin, the follicle hardens and encapsulates various metabolic products accumulated during its growth phase. This process effectively records the body’s mineral status and overall nutritional metabolic activity over time.

Important Note: It is crucial that the hair sample collected is untreated—meaning it should not be permed, dyed, or bleached. If the hair has been chemically treated, one should wait until enough new, untreated hair has grown out to collect a sample. Additionally, the hair must be free from all gels, oils, and hair creams before collecting the sample to ensure the accuracy of the test results.

What will you discover?

You will be provided a report that shows your nutritional mineral elements, toxic elements exposure, mineral ratios between synergistic mineral elements, and toxic mineral ratios and their antagonistic relationship on various essential minerals.

    Who benefits from HTMA?

An HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) test is valuable for assessing mineral status and metabolic processes within the cells and is suitable for both men and women. This test provides insights into intracellular activities by analyzing mineral content and can detect potential toxic metal accumulations. These metals may accumulate in critical organs like the brain, kidneys, liver, bones, and adipose tissue, potentially causing health issues.

Minerals maintain a crucial interconnected relationship with various organ systems, notably the endocrine system. They are also integral to the metabolic functions of vitamins, underscoring their foundational role in overall health and the various physiological processes within the body.

Important Note: For accurate testing, the hair sample must be untreated—free from perms, dyes, or bleaching. If the hair has been chemically treated, it is necessary to wait until enough new growth has emerged for sample collection. Additionally, ensure the hair is clean and free from all gels, oils, and hair creams before collecting the sample. This precaution helps maintain the integrity of the test results.
